SYNOPSIS: The article tries to visualise the great power of devotion. The article calls for unfailing devotion towards GOD at all times and in all circumstances. READ THE FULL ARTICLE BELOW -

An infant not even in full clothing, thirsty and hungry in the hot summer afternoon is often made a symbol of misery and you must have seen such an infant in mother’s lap begging at traffic signals.

That infant is on the mother’s feed and is a newborn, therefore the infant had done nothing wrong in the present birth because the infant had yet not uttered a word nor had laid a foot on the ground.

Just ponder then what is the reason behind such misery. The reason could be that either in the previous births he would have done lots of evil things or he was not able to associate himself with GOD through devotion. Because if he would have undertaken devotion of GOD, by sheer virtue of the devotional power it would have burnt all sins accumulated of all births in a split of a second. The shower of a split second kindness of GOD has a much vaster potency to burn sins than anyone’s capability to accumulate sins in many births.

The first power of devotion is that it burns the sins of many births. The second power of devotion (which is even more important than the first) is that it restrains us from committing sins in that life. Because real devotion cleanses our mind and soul to such an extent that we are able to acknowledge our inner voice which restrains us from doing wrong. With devotion, we are able to distinctly and clearly hear our inner voice. If we abide by our inner voice it becomes more strong and audible. If we are not devotional, the opposite happens that our inner voice subsides and becomes inaudible.

What is this inner voice ? This is the Divine voice, the voice of GOD from within us which guides us for doing good deeds and restrains us from doing evil and bad deeds.

See the devotional power which is able to generate directions from within, which is not the case if one is not devotional. The devotional power restricts us from indulging in sinful activities in that birth and it is the same devotional power that burns our past accumulated sins of many births due to the kindness of GOD.

When our accumulated sins are washed away, we get a human birth in a good, noble family. Being born in such a family and being able to understand the reason behind it, we must continue on the devotional path in that birth. Because it was devotion which was instrumental in earning the kindness of GOD which led to the burning of our sins, by virtue of which we got the human body and the birth in a noble family. Therefore if we are able to keep our devotion predominant and prevailing in that new birth, it saves us from indulging in sinful activities. Devotion makes our inner voice cogent and saves us from doing evil deeds. Devotion leads us to the greatest height in human life and even leads us to a union with GOD by which we are freed from the miseries of birth and rebirths forever. In fact, this is the very purpose of human life.

Therefore if we are born with adversities (in a poor and humble family) we must undertake devotion for undoing our miseries, to cleanse us from sins and for the generation of the audible inner voice which will restrain us from indulging in new evils during adversities. If we are born without adversities (in an affluent and noble family) then too, we must undertake devotion as a thanksgiving to GOD and for achieving the real pinnacle of human life (the real pinnacle of human life is not the accumulation of worldly wealth and enjoying worldly luxuries and show-off but the real pinnacle is practicing high moral principles and doing noble deeds in the human life). Also, if we are born without adversities, we must undertake devotion to make our inner voice cogent so that our arrogance of wealth and power do not force us into doing wrongful evils.

If we are born with adversities, we should consider it the result of our lack of devotion in previous births, for not being able to connect with the kindness of GOD. Therefore it becomes utterly important to connect with GOD through intense devotion so that we raise our present destiny.

If we are born without adversities, we should consider it the result of our devotion towards GOD in our past lives and the present favorable times is nothing but the reward for being able to connect ourselves with GOD in past lives. Therefore we should continue to keep ourselves connected with GOD by undertaking intense devotion in the present life too.

In both situations, to walk on the devotional path is the only and most effective medium to make our human life successful and wonderful.
