SYNOPSIS: We are too tiny in front of the grandeur and capability of GOD but devotion still brings the oneness between us and GOD because He is our Godfather. READ THE FULL ARTICLE BELOW -

If we peep out of the window on a long journey we will find many helpless poor and disabled people, many species of animals and birds, many tiny creatures like ants and insects etc. Who has taken the responsibility to fill their stomach every day. Who has taken the responsibility to rescue them in their hour of distress. Only GOD had taken such responsibility.

We cannot properly undertake the responsibility of our small family, an industrialist cannot properly undertake the responsibility of the employees in his factory, a king cannot properly undertake the responsibility of the people in his province. For example, can a king have the caliber to address the miseries of a person in distress about 200 kms away from him at 2 o’clock in the night. It is not possible for any king to be able to know the misery and to address such misery of a person 200 kms away at 2 o’clock in the night. The same holds true for a head of a family or for an industrialist. Take a second example, a head of the family had gone on business to a distant place. He receives a telephone call at 2 o’clock in the night that his wife had got a serious heart stroke. Away from his home, he will give direction to take her to a particular doctor or a particular hospital. At best, he will call up the doctor and his relatives 5 - 6 times. At last, to overcome the distress he will have to sit and pray to GOD. He does not have the power or the ability, however intelligent or rich he may be, to address the distress of his wife by his own self. He will have to seek the shelter of GOD. In the hour of distress, even the biggest atheist surrenders to GOD for they clearly know that it is the only GOD who can now overcome their distress.

After seeing the caliber of a king or a head of family, let us focus on the grandeur of GOD. GOD sees a tiny black ant in a black coal mine on a black and dark night and hears its plight for 24 hours and 365 days. It is not only for an ant but He does so for zillions and zillions i.e, incalculable and innumerable creatures (be it aquatic, aerial, terrestrial and flora). It is only GOD who has His vision on innumerable creatures at all times, who hears the miseries of innumerable creatures at all times, who provides food to innumerable creatures every day and who helps innumerable creatures in their hour of distress. If we could only visualize this majesty, we are able to understand the great grandeur of GOD. Then we would surrender to the great grandeur of GOD because howsoever strong, intelligent and rich we may be, we find that our caliber is just like a tiny particle of sand when compared to the great grandeur of GOD. Here the great grandeur is only given as a citation to demonstrate the majesty of GOD but in real terms, our human mind cannot visualize the real grandeur of GOD and the words of a dictionary cannot spell it.

The moment we are able to experience the grandeur of GOD, our affection and love for Him starts increasing. The name for this affection and love is devotion. We can draw nearer to the all-capable GOD by devotion and devotion alone. It is only devotion that draws us closer to GOD, who has such grandeur and capability. See the difference between GOD and ourself, GOD has such grandeur and capability and we are so ordinary. Still, devotion brings the oneness between the individual soul and the UNIVERSAL SOUL.

Devotion makes us surrender in the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD. When we surrender in the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD, the sorrows of our life starts fading away. Before we could even know, our sorrow disappears. Before we could realize, happiness gets filled in our lives. Elixir turns an iron metal into gold. It is the characteristics of the elixir that it turns iron into gold without going into the merits or demerits of iron. Likewise, GOD does not go into the merits or demerits of a soul. The moment the soul surrenders to Him, the touch of the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD replaces the sorrow of a soul with happiness. It is the majesty of the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD that we do not get anything less than this. After being touched by an elixir can an iron remain an iron. Not possible. Let us understand this principle with another example. We have coins of one rupee denomination in our pocket. If a beggar approaches us we cannot give him 10 paise (1 Rupee = 100 paise) because we do not have it. We will have to give him a minimum of one rupee coin. Likewise, the touch of the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD will only give happiness and nothing less than it because it is the only thing available there.

Therefore the best remedy is to surrender in the Divine Lotus Feet of GOD who has great grandeur and is all capable. There is a term GODFATHER in English. The Holy text lays stress on the saying that LET GOD BE THE ONLY GODFATHER. But we often falter here. We often look upon a very rich person or a politician as our GODFATHER. Here the fault is ours because we have failed to enlighten ourselves with the grandeur of GOD. If we would have enlightened ourselves, we would have firmly believed in the terminology GOD, GOD & only GOD and would have made GOD our only and only GODFATHER.

This is what devotees firmly believe and this is what is reflected in the immortal lyrics “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kahiye” by the great devotee Shri Narsi Mehtaji. In one of the verses it is said “To hail GOD and no one else” which means that no earthly men or name should be hailed. The devotee only hails Almighty GOD.
